Iron Horse Mountain Bike
The Iron Horse Bicycle Company has been manufacturing high end world class mountain
bikes for over fifteen years. Iron Horse bicycles have received many awards by numerous leading Bicycle
Magazines including Mountain Biking in 2003 for 'bike of the year' for its downhill mountain bike model and
also got the editor's choice recognition in 'Bicycling Magazine'.
Founded in 1987 the Iron Horse Bicycle Company is based out of Long Island New York. Iron Horse Mountain Bikes
originally made a name for itself by using a combination of creative bicycle designs, competitive pricing, and a first-rate
racing program. They have developed and produced over 40 models of mountain bikes, road bikes, comfort bikes,
juvenile bikes, and hybrids in the 20 plus years that they have been in business.
Iron Horse's frame design has set it apart in the cycling industry by using a successful proprietary design.
Introduced a decade ago, their patented A-frame design quickly became an industry standard that set new
expectations for both stiffness and durability. Iron Horse's dual suspension models are at the cutting edge of
frame design. Iron Horse's “dw-link” and four-bar frame designs have received rave reviews from the press and
riders for their handling and top shelf components.
The Iron Horse racing team was catapulted into the world spotlight in 1992
when Dave Cullinan won the downhill World Championship at Bromont, Canada. In the mid 1990s the Iron Horse Pro
Team was the most dominant team in downhill mountain bike racing. The list of riders who have ridden under
Iron Horse colors reads like a "who's-who" of the mountain bike world. Dave Cullinan, Kim Sonier, Penny
Davidson, Toby Henderson, Leigh Donovan, and "Pistol" Pete Loncarevich are just some of the riders who have
been part of past Iron Horse teams.
In 03, Iron Horse bicycle company was at the top of the World Cup Series again. Iron Horse team rider Nathan
Rennie won the UCI World Cup Point Series. Teammate, Sam Hill defended his title as Jr. World Cup Champion in 2003
and recently finished first at the 04 Australian Nationals.
